Abba 2022 tour: Band recruit popstar Little Boots for live shows

Abba will be joined by popstar Little Boots on their 2022 reunion tour.

Little Boots, 37, took to social media to make the exciting announcement that she will be joining the group on stage to play keyboard, synth and sing backing vocals.

The singer, whose real name is Victoria Hesketh, wrote a gushing tribute to the Swedish quartet, calling the opportunity ‘an honour’ as a ‘lifelong Abba fan.’

‘My love for the songs of Abba runs hard and deep, there is no other songwriting I have been more inspired by throughout my career, in my opinion it is the most life-affirming, heart wrenching, joyful, liberating, powerful pop music on the planet,’ she wrote.

⁠⁠The songwriter referred to Abba as her ‘musical heroes,’ sharing she is ‘beyond excited for this journey to continue.’

‘I am beyond excited to have the privilege of performing these songs with a group of the most incredible musicians I have ever played with.’

Teasing fans with what’s to come, she wrote: ‘The sound of this band will give you goosebumps!⁠⁠’

Little Boots is an English electro pop singer-songwriter and DJ, who was previously a member of the band Dead Disco. 

Since embarking on a career as a solo artist, she has released three albums and a number of associated EPs and remixes.

Her debut album, Hands, helped her achieve mainstream success in 2009 as she received a critics’ choice nomination at the BRIT Awards.

The album peaked at number five on the UK Albums Chart and featured top 20 hit New in Town and top 10 hit, Remedy.

Little Boots also owns a record label and has been working with Melanie C on the Spice Girl’s next album.

Abba teased their reunion that had been ‘40 years in the making’ before announcing Abba Voyage in a live stream.

The Dancing Queens will release a new studio album, including brand new single I Still Have Faith In You.

The pop icons will tour in 2022 with a hologram tour, saying: ‘We’re going to be able to sit back in an audience and watch our digital selves perform our songs on a stage in a custom-built arena in London next spring. Weird and wonderful!’

They thanked fans for waiting 39 years for their return, adding: ‘To all of you who patiently have followed us in some way or another these past decades: Thank you for waiting – it’s time for a new journey to begin.’

Abba Voyage will be released on November 5.
