Alison Hammond hopes she can ‘make you all proud’ as gears up to present This Morning on Fridays.

The beloved star is replacing Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on the ITV daytime show in 2021 and will be hosting the programme alongside Dermot O’Leary.

Sharing her excitement on Twitter, Alison enthused: ‘The news is officially out ! So honoured to be joining Holly and Phil, Eamonn and Ruth on the sofa with Dermott.

‘I hope I can make you all proud! I’m thrilled to have been given this incredible opportunity. Bring on 2021!!’

Alison and Dermot will begin their takeover on This Morning from January 8, 2021, while Eamonn and Ruth will continue to host the show during key holidays.

There’s no bad blood over the change of hands either, with Eamonn and Ruth telling Metro.co.uk: ‘We absolutely love This Morning and are happy to be part of the This Morning Family.’

The husband and wife, who have been a regular fixture on This Morning for 14 years, also shared a joint statement, which was posted on both their Instagram and Twitter pages.

‘It’s a changing of the guard on Fridays from January,’ they wrote. ‘We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two!

‘It’s not Goodbye from us, it’s simply Au Revoir until the next half term.’

ITV daytime managing director Emma Gormley said: ‘We are delighted that Alison and Dermot will be joining the main presenting family on This Morning.

‘Alison has provided some of the most memorable moments on the show in recent times and teamed up with the brilliant Dermot we think they are a great pairing in addition to our fabulous presenting line up of Phillip and Holly and Eamonn and Ruth.’

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
