Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift were the queens of the night at this evening’s Attitude Awards 2020.

The pop babes appeared during the online ceremony, which was hosted by comedian Tom Allen, with Swift landing herself a little icon award and Lipa being recognised in the music category.

Meanwhile, actor Russell Tovey was given the culture award, which was presented to him by artist Tracey Emin.

Other winners of the night included RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle Visage, who was given the ally award, while Rosie Jones won in the comedy category.

Singer Paloma Faith took home the honorary gay gong while actor Luke Evans, who insisted he’s never hidden his sexuality in Hollywood, was named man of the year.

Faith, Yungblud, Rina Sawayama, Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne and The Vamps all performed during the ceremony.

The awards are to benefit the Attitude Magazine Foundation, which raises money for LGBT causes.

This year’s host, Tom, warned people must not become ‘complacent’ in the fight for LGBT rights and said people must continue to ‘fight for equality across the board and across the world’.

He told PA: ‘[There is] still so much to be done on an international scale for getting equality for people who aren’t straight and also defending the rights of trans people.’

Darren Styles, publisher of Attitude magazine, enthused: ‘This has been the most extraordinary running of the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar, where the more usual 650 guests in black tie at the Roundhouse have been replaced with a world audience in the digital, virtual space.

’14 amazing presenters, 14 great winners and five roof-raising live performances have resulted in a blockbuster show that – we hope – has uplifted the watching LGBTQ community.

‘May our award winners inspire anyone, anywhere, of any age to embrace who they truly are, free to be the best that they can be.’
