Ben Chilwell has heaped praise on Timo Werner and believes his Chelsea team-mate possesses similar qualities to elite Premier League strikers Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy.
The Blues completed a £47.5million deal to sign the forward from RB Leipzig in the summer and he has hit the ground running with eight goals in his first 12 appearances for the club.
Werner possesses lightning quick pace and has proved to be a valuable asset to Frank Lampard with his ability to play both as a No.9 and on the left wing.
And Chilwell feels the Germany international is already up there with the Premier League’s cream of the crop after his impressive start at Stamford Bridge.
‘I’d already say he’s up there with them two [Kane and Vardy] and he can definitely go on to be absolutely world-class for a long time for the next 10 years or so,’ Chilwell told Soccer AM.
‘I think when you look at his age and how prolific he is in front of goal, even now his start to Chelsea he’s scored a lot of goals already. Just in front of goal he’s so good.’
The Blues left-back pointed out Werner has a mix of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy’s pace, and Tottenham’s talisman Kane’s natural goalscoring ability.
‘He has similar characteristics to both Vards and Harry to be fair,’ Chilwell added. ‘In terms of running the channels and how quick he is it’s similar to Vards.
‘With Harry his link-up play and is finishing is similar. He’s definitely in a category with them two.’
