CBeebies continues to pull in incredible guests for its Bedtime Story series, after confirming that Ryan Reynolds will join viewers from his home in Canada this month.

The actor will treat families to a reading of Maurice Sendak’s classic story Where The Wild Things Are on Friday July 16 at 6.50pm.

He’s the latest star to join the series, following the likes of Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page, Tom Hardy, Isla Fisher and Chris Evans.

Ryan’s contribution to the series is proof, once again, that CBeebies must have one of the best booking agents in the world.

Introducing his Bedtime Story over video call, Ryan said: ‘Well hello, I’m Ryan and I can’t be with you in the CBeebies House at the moment. But I really want to read you a Bedtime Story, so here I am all the way from the other side of the world in Canada.’

The actor added: ‘Sometimes even the wildest creatures need to settle down with the people they love and get ready for sleep. Who knows what amazing adventures you’ll go on in your dreams tonight? Goodnight wild things, sleep tight.’

The 1963 childrens’ book focuses on Max, a young boy who is sent to bed with no dinner for being naughty. To his surprise, his room then begins to transform into a forest and he sets off on a journey to where the Wild Things live.

The book was made into a 2009 film from director Spike Jonze, features the voices of James Gandolfini, Paul Dano, Lauren Ambrose, Forest Whitaker, Catherine O’Hara, and Chris Cooper.

Ryan recently joined TikTok – and it was exactly as sarcastic and self-satirising as you’d expect.

On his first day he parodied himself, referenced Deadpool, showed love to his football team Wrexham AFC and trolled his co-owner.

Ryan Reynolds’ Bedtime Story will air on CBeebies on Friday July 16 at 6.50pm. It will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
