Tim Cahill has hailed ‘incredible’ Chelsea summer signing Hakim Ziyech and says Blues fans will see ‘amazing things’ from him this season.
Ziyech made two assists as Chelsea came from behind to thump Sheffield United 4-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Morocco international has made a superb start to his Blues career, scoring two goals and providing three assists in six appearances since joining in a £33million move from Ajax.
Former Premier League star Cahill singled out Ziyech for praise after Chelsea’s victory over Sheffield United and said he expects big things from the midfielder this season.
‘It was the Hakim Ziyech show,’ Cahill said on BBC’s Match of the Day. ‘He was incredible.
‘It’s what he see and the chances he creates for other players. He’s so cultured and there are so many chances that come from his left foot.
‘You can understand why he’s world class and why Chelsea have signed him.
‘He can score goals and create. He can see a pass. He is always playing forward so the players know he can play them in.
‘I am really impressed with him and you will see amazing things from him this season.’
Lampard also praised Ziyech after the Sheffield United win and described his performance as ‘amazing’.
He said: ‘He was probably at his best today. He has a good confidence and arrogance about him – a good arrogance.
‘He will keep trying those passes and keep trying to get those assists.’
Chelsea’s victory saw them climb to third in the Premier League table, one point behind joint-leaders Southampton and Liverpool.
And Lampard added: ‘It was enjoyable. This is a team that is so difficult to play against.
‘They are a great team with an incredible coach. The reaction was brilliant to the goal – we created a lot and were really secure. I’m happy with everybody.
‘The balance of the team felt great. There were so many good things in what we were creating, we scored two goals from set-pieces.
‘I don’t want to get too carried away but I’m happy.’
