Colts hold Ravens to lowest total yards in a half in Lamar Jackson era

Lamar Jackson, Ravens, Colts

If the Indianapolis Colts are able to hold onto a win against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, it’ll be mostly due to their defensive efforts. While they were able to sustain a lead going into the half, the Colts’ defense was also able to water down some of Lamar Jackson’s efforts as well.

The Colts went on to hold the Ravens to their fewest yards totaled in any half since the arrival of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.

The Ravens were able to only muster up 55 total yards in the first half of Sunday’s bout against the Colts, which would suggest that the Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus has found the missing ingredient to halting a juggernaut-like offense that the Ravens are known for. Given their recent defensive performances, the Ravens should’ve prepared for what was bound to be a difficult matchup against the Colts.

The Colts’ defense ranks second in the league for yards allowed. While they’ve had a few challenges in prior weeks with Joe Burrow and Matthew Stafford, Jackson is a totally different quarterback given his skillset. While the reigning MVP is a terrific passer, he finds most of his success in the running game, which currently has posed a problem for a stagnant Ravens’ offense. He’s currently racked up 34 yards from eight carries, which is quite the ways off from his normal performances.

His delay in turning the game around could be due to the Colts’ pressure on the rushing game. They currently rank second in yards gained from rushing attempts as well.
