This is the devastating moment which sees badly injured and grieving Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) blame herself for the death of her boyfriend Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni), who was murdered by a gang who targeted Nina and attacked them both.

As it becomes more and more clear that the hatred and intolerance from the thugs was directed towards Nina’s identity as a goth, with the lads having yelled ‘freak’ at her and referred to her as ‘thing’, the scars are much deeper than what we see on Nina’s bruised body.

As she is left harrowed from the loss of Seb, Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is seen arriving at hospital to find her packing a bag to return home – she is discharging herself.

Roy is deeply worried as Nina questions her own actions – saying that if she hadn’t asked Seb to go for a walk or even if she had never met him then he would still be alive.

She tells Roy she has to do something but as he reassures her that none of this is his fault, he wants her to spend more time in hospital recovering.

However, while the physical wounds will heal in time, Roy is left later wondering whether Nina will ever be the same.

Can he help her through this?

This episode airs on Wednesday May 12 at 7:30pm on ITV.
