The beef is juicy between former bandmates David Crosby and Neil Young.
Crosby, 80 has branded Young, 75, the most ‘self-centred, self-obsessed and selfish’ person he knows, meaning we’re probably not gonna get a reunion any time soon.
Young joined supergroup Crosby, Stills and Nash (CSN) – David, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash – in 1969, turning it into the even more super-group Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
However, the band hasn’t played together as a foursome since 2013, and it doesn’t look like Crosby and Young will be palling around on stage in the future.
Speaking to the Guardian, Crosby said: ‘I’m a very liberal guy and a modern thinker in terms of politics. Neil doesn’t really do politics. He does Neil.’
When asked what that meant, he said: ‘Well, he’s probably the most self-centred, self-obsessed, selfish person I know. He only thinks about Neil, period. That’s the only person he’ll consider. Ever!’
The pair majorly fell out back in 2014 when Crosby called Young’s then-girlfriend, now-wife Daryl Hannah a ‘purely poisonous predator’ in an interview with the Idaho Statesman, something he apologised for the following year.
The Déjà Vu singer told Howard Stern: ‘I have screwed up massively. Daryl Hannah never wound up in a Texas prison. I’m screwed up way worse than that girl. Where do I get off criticising her? She’s making Neil happy. I love Neil and I want him happy.’
While Crosby understands why Young would still be mad at him, he can’t make the same excuse for not speaking to Nash, 79, anymore either.
He told The Guardian: ‘Neil has got a genuine beef. I did say something bad about his girlfriend. I said I thought she was a predator. OK, he can be mad at me. That’s all right.
‘Graham just changed from the guy I thought was my best friend to being a guy that is definitely my enemy, so I don’t see any future there at all.’
Saying he is ‘not happy with him’, Crosby said of Nash: ‘He gave the impression of looking after me, but apparently that was all just trying to keep the money coming.’
However, he does still speak to Stills, 76, who he called ‘the best guitar player, the best singer and the best writer’.
When asked about a possible CSNY reunion in the future, Crosby said he doesn’t expect there to be a reconciliation due to the ‘petty-assed bulls***’.
CSN – minus Young – last performed in 2015, and Crosby has focused on his solo career.
The former Byrds star has released four solo albums since 2016 – Lighthouse, Sky Trails, Here If You Listen, and For Free, the latter which was released in July this year.
