On Election Day 2020, then-President Donald Trump was confident he would beat his challenger Joe Biden but later screamed and barked orders when Fox News called a key state for the Democrat. Trump’s reported exact words, and those of his aides, are documented in the forthcoming book I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year.

The 45th president was ‘upbeat’ on the morning of November 3 while some of his aides chattered ‘giddily of a landslide’, states an excerpt of the book published on Tuesday by the Washington Post.

‘Trump’s voice was hoarse from his mad dash of rallies, but he thought his exhausting final sprint had sealed the deal,’ states the book by Post journalists Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, to be released on July 20.

‘He considered Joe Biden to be a lot of things, but a winner most definitely was not one of them. “I can’t lose to this f—— guy”, Trump told aides.’

When Trump’s preferred TV network Fox News called Arizona for Biden, however, Trump’s mood changed.

The book states: ‘”What the f— is Fox doing?” Trump screamed. Then he barked orders to (senior White House adviser Jared) Kushner: “Call Rupert! Call James and Lachlan!”’ Trump was referring to Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch and his sons. Trump also told his reelection campaign senior adviser Jason Miller to tell top Fox News executive Bill Sammon that ‘they’ve got to reverse this’, the book states.

‘Trump’s tirade continued. “What the f—?” he bellowed. “What the f— are these guys doing? How could they call this this early?”’ the book states.

The book published by Penguin Press also claims that Trump’s then-personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani that asked Miller, campaign manager Bill Stepien and White House Chief of Staff Mark about the vote totals state by state. The three told Giuliani the votes were still being tallied and it was too early to tell, the book states, but Giuliani told them: ‘Just say we won’.

Meadows said, ‘We can’t do that’, the book claims.
