Former EastEnders star Charlie Clements has revealed the new career direction he took during lockdown.

The actor was best known for playing the popular character Bradley Branning on the soap from 2006 to 2010.

The 33-year-old revealed on Instagram that he has been recently working as a chef in the pandemic.

The soap star added that he would soon be getting back on the acting horse as he had a brand new role lined up that he would be leaving his current job to prepare for.

He posted a selfie on Instagram of himself at work, wearing his chef’s whites, a red cap which he wore backwards, and a pair of black glasses.

Charlie wrote in the caption: ‘Last day as a chef today!! On to rehearsals next week… #actorslife’.

His pals from his time on EastEnders congratulated him on the upcoming role, with star Rita Simons telling him: ‘🙌🙌 whoop! Well@done Chaz!’ with Charlie replying with an emoji of raised hands in celebration.

Actor Jake Wood, who played his on screen dad Max Branning, posted a flexed arm and a ‘boom’ emoji in the comments.

Charlie replied: ‘Thanks for your help with the decision!!’

Replying to another follower in the comments he revealed he had been cast in the play Mousetrap which is set to run in the West End later this month.

Bradley became a much loved character on the BBC One soap through his relationship with dad Max and girlfriend Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner). Stacey’s affair with Max – and the shock reveal on Christmas Day – remains one of the show’s most iconic storylines.

However tragedy struck in 2010 when Bradley died after falling from the roof of the Queen Vic pub.

He has since gone on to have various theatre roles and played Henry VIII in Channel 5 docu-drama Henry VIII And His Six Wives in 2016.
