While there is no confirmed line-up as of yet, many have been predicting what squad Gareth Southgate might play against the formidable German team, managed by Joachim Löw.

Ex-Arsenal player Ian Wright has stated his desire to see England play with a 4-3-3, while former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville went for a 3-4-3.

Southgate has largely favoured having four at the back in the tournament so far but has reportedly been considering playing three in defence for the Germany game.

Having three at the back was the preferred formation during Southgate’s 2018 World Cup campaign, where England went on to reach the semi-finals – could this game see the return of this more offensively minded formation?

It won’t be long till we find out when the teams take to the pitch this early evening.
