Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is on the verge of becoming Carlo Ancelotti’s successor at
Everton, according to reports.
Ancelotti left Goodison Park at the beginning of June to join Real Madrid for a second time, bringing an end to his 18-month spell at the club.
Everton held talks with recently departed Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, but according to
Sky Sports, Benitez is their first choice and has been offered the job.

The report states that Benitez is close to taking over at Goodison Park, which may come as a surprise to some given his ties to their local rivals Liverpool.
The Spaniard spent six years at Anfield, winning the Champions League, FA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup over that period.
Benitez was most recently at Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang but left his post there in January.
A move to Everton would see the 61-year-old return to the Premier League two years after leaving his most recent job in England’s top flight with Newcastle.
He managed the Magpies between 2016 and 2019 and was a hugely popular figure at St James’ Park.
