Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock surprised many fans earlier today as during a press conference, he revealed his love for ITV soap Coronation Street.
Ahead of Middlesbrough’s clash with Millwall on Saturday, he told journalists he switched off the Lions’ last match to watch something else – Coronation Street.
He said how he’s lost track of the various plot lines over the years, mentioning how he’s a fan of the show and believes he has similarities with one of their best known characters…
Corrie fans will know Roy is often seen with a reusable shopping bag, and Neil revealed he often leaves the training ground with a carrier bag too!
During the press conference, he said: ‘I used to watch it all the time but I’ve lost track now…I can’t think of his name but I always walk out here with a carrier bag and I always think I look like…’
After a journalist suggested he was thinking of Norris Cole, another mentioned Roy Cropper, to which the Middlesbrough boss replied: ‘That’s it, Roy Cropper! Up the Roy Cropper! I always go out with my carrier bag.’
Moments after the press conference ended, Neil mentioning he thinks of himself as Roy Cropper began trending on Twitter, with Corrie’s social media account joining in on Neil’s ‘Up the Roy Cropper!’ phrase.
