Good Morning Britain viewers have generously offered to lend Kate Garraway their cars after hers got stolen earlier this month.

The ITV host had her car stolen from outside their family home, while her husband Derek Draper continued his fight against coronavirus in hospital.

The theft happened just days after Kate shared an update on Derek’s health, revealing that he has said his first word since being hospitalised.

Speaking about the car theft with Ben Shephard on Friday’s GMB, Kate began: ‘It’s kinda been a tough old week for Derek, I haven’t got back to anybody and I haven’t sorted it out yet.

‘But it’s just so lovely and some viewers have been offering to lend me their cars, which obviously, you haven’t spoken to Ben Shephard because…’

‘First things first,’ Ben chipped in. ‘Honestly, it’s a really lovely gesture, but don’t do it.’

‘I think it’s lovely,’ Kate continued. ‘Don’t be mean.

‘Darren says “My wife’s dad has offered me his Ford Focus, he doesn’t drive it much that much and he’s love to help Kate out.’

Ben went on to read out some of the messages out, and one viewer even offered Kate his Mercedes.

‘First one was Jason,’ Ben continued. ‘Jason who tweeted in “Just watching Kate and I feel what she’s going through, I have a Mercedes E250 MG Sport.

‘It’s just been taxed, MOT’d, service and has low mileage.

‘Kate is welcome to borrow this for as long as she needs – I can use my wife’s car. Let me now and I can arrange for it to be taken to Kate.’

Another viewer also offered Kate a chauffeur service until her car was replaced.

Kate’s husband has been in hospital, since contracting the virus in March.

While he is now able to breathe without the aid of a ventilator, it was claimed last month that Derek was the UK’s longest-suffering Covid-19 patient in hospital and is one of five people in the world to be so badly affected by the condition.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
