Harry Styles’ mum suggested she was responsible for him wearing a dress on his iconic Vogue US cover.

The Golden singer made history as the first solo male to appear on the cover of the fashion bible – and rocked a Gucci gown for the photoshoot.

Many have heaped praise on the 26-year-old’s bold look, but there have been a few people who have criticised the snaps.

Appearing on today’s instalment of Lorraine, Harry’s mum, Anne Twist, took the opportunity to defend the star over the trolls.

‘I think maybe I had something to do with it because I was always a big fan of doing fancy dress with them when they were smaller, which [Harry’s sister] Gemma always hated but Harry always embraced,’ she told the host.

‘But who doesn’t love playing dress-up?’

Anne also spoke about whether she would be able to see her children for a huge family Christmas, adding: ‘I hope so. Who knows what will happen but I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

‘It will be a very different Christmas if I don’t get to see them. They are both vegetarian now, so I am the only one that eats the turkey!’

Harry had the entire world taking notice with his Vogue appearance – donning dresses and skirts for the stunning photoshoot.

The One Direction legend was mostly applauded for the move, but there were some who weren’t too impressed with the outcome.

Candace Owens made headlines for her take, when she tweeted: ‘There is no society that can survive without strong men.

‘The East knows this. In the west, the steady feminisation of our men at the same time that Marxism is being taught to our children is not a coincidence.

‘It is an outright attack. Bring back manly men.’

Close pal Olivia Wilde was having absolutely none of it, leaping to Harry’s defence.

The actress, who is set to star alongside the Watermelon Sugar star in the upcoming movie Don’t Worry Darling, simply hit back: ‘You’re pathetic.’

Lorraine continues on weekdays, at 9am, on ITV.
