Jake Woods has revealed his first role after he announced his shock exit from EastEnders.

The actor, who has played Max Branning for 15 years, has bagged a job as a director.

Taking to his Instagram account to share the exciting news with his followers, Jake was all smiles as he held up a slate board for a ‘very exciting project’,

Dressed in a beanie hat, jacket and scarf, it was clear to see that Jake was overjoyed to be directing his first project.

Another snap showed a screenshot of an actress wearing a face mask, while another showed a scene being shot outside a greengrocers.

Luisa Bradshaw-White commented: ‘Woo hoo!!!’

While Emma Barton added: ‘Yes Jake!’

Stevie Basaula simply said: ‘Ayyyy.’

In September, Jake announced he would be leaving the BBC soap by the end of the year.

TV bosses revealed that Jake’s character would be written out of the show.

‘After 15 years I will be leaving EastEnders at the end of this year,’ Jake announced on Instagram.

‘I have loved playing Max Branning who amongst other things in that time has had 4 marriages, 10 affairs, 4 children (2 dying from falling from the roof of The Queen Vic), been buried alive, watched unwanted DVDs at Xmas and perhaps most traumatising of all…shared a hot tub with Ian Beale. ‘

‘I have made some truly great friends whilst on the show and I’ll miss everyone there. I’m grateful they have left the door open for Max and I’m excited to see what new horizons are around the corner,’ he added.

‘Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages this week, I appreciate the love and support.’
