Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has been cremated following his death.

The US presenter died aged 80 on November 8, following a battle with stage four pancreatic cancer.

At the time, the official Twitter account for gameshow Jeopardy! had confirmed Trebek’s death, telling fans he had died while surrounded by his family.

It read: ‘Jeopardy is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends.’

Reports have now revealed that Trebek has been cremated, with his wife Jean, who he was married to for 30 years, taking his ashes home.

The star’s death certificate, obtained by The Blast, lists Trebek’s final resting place as the Studio City home he shared with Jean.

It lists Trebek’s occupation as Quiz Show Host and states he was in the entertainment industry for 60 years.

Following Trebek’s death, Jean had shared a statement thanking fans for their messages and support on Instagram. She posted: ‘My family and I sincerely thank you all for your compassionate messages and generosity.’

‘Your expressions have truly touched our hearts. Thank you so very, very much. Many blessings to all, Jean Trebek,’ she wrote alongside a picture taken on the couple’s wedding day.

Stars also flocked to social media to pay tribute to Trebek, including William Shatner, Jamie Lee Curtis and actor Armie Hammer, who described Trebek as the ‘greatest host of one of the greatest shows of all time’.

Trebek had fronted the quiz show since 1984 – he had been signed on to host the show until 2022.

The much-loved presenter revealed his cancer diagnosis in March 2019 and had immediately started chemotherapy treatment.

Sharing an update on his health earlier this year, Trebek had said on Good Morning America: ‘I’d be lying if I said the journey had been an easy one. There were some good days, but a lot of not-so good days.’

Trebek, who has six Daytime Emmy Awards to his name, had suffered mild heart attacked in 2007 and 2012.

He is survived by wife Jean and their two children, son Matthew and daughter Emily.
