Joe Cole is backing both Chelsea and Liverpool to win their matches on the final day of the season to secure their places in the top four but sees Leicester dropping points and losing out on Champions League football.

Chelsea currently occupy third place in the Premier League table with 67 points, while Liverpool are in fourth on 66 – only ahead of fifth-placed Leicester on goal difference.

On Sunday, the Blues take on Aston Villa at Villa Park, while Jurgen Klopp’s side host Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Leicester, meanwhile, face Tottenham at the King Power Stadium and will be reliant on the teams above them faltering to get back into the top-four.

Making his predictions on JOE and Coral Media’s All to Play For podcast, Cole tipped Chelsea and Liverpool to get the job done with victories on the last day of the season, while he feels Leicester will draw with Spurs and scupper their Champions League hopes.

‘Clubs of that stature [Chelsea and Liverpool] when they get that many bites of the apple they don’t usually mess up,’ Cole said.

However, the ex-Blues winger is wary of the threat that Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, who recently returned from injury, could pose to Thomas Tuchel’s side.

‘I’m throwing another thing in there, though,’ he added. ‘Villa at home, Jack Grealish’s last game, fans in the stadium, you worry.

‘There’s so many things to throw in.

‘They [Chelsea] should do it.’

After Sunday’s crunch clash against Villa, Chelsea then play Manchester City in the Champions League final on May 29.

Although Tuchel was delighted with his team’s performance in their vital 2-1 victory against Leicester in midweek, he is fully focused on the two huge games to come.

‘It was an outstanding performance but the job is not done. We have two more to go,’ Tuchel told Sky Sports.

‘It was a big win but it is not time for celebration yet.’
