Djokovic, 33, beat Cristian Garin in straight sets on Monday in a one-sided fourth-round clash. He has only dropped one set in the tournament – the very first of his title defence against Great Britain’s Jack Draper.
The top seed faces Marton Fucsovics in the quarter-finals on Wednesday and, if he progresses, will meet the winner of Karen Khachanov-Denis Shapovalov in the last four.
A mouth-watering final against long-time rival and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer could await but McEnroe doubts there is a player in the field who can stop Djokovic.
Asked whether he still expects Djokovic to win a sixth Wimbledon this week, McEnroe said after the Garin thrashing: ‘Absolutely.
‘He still looks like the champ. That doesn’t mean he’s going to win it but I take him over the field, let’s put it that way. I think he’s going to win the Grand Slam.’
Djokovic said he was ‘delighted’ to reach a 50th Grand Slam quarter-final after beating Garin, especially as 15,000 fans were on Centre Court to witness the win.
‘I am delighted to reach the quarter-finals and I’m more delighted to see more fans on Centre Court,’ the world number one said. ‘My confidence level is very high after winning the French Open.
‘That was one of the biggest wins under those circumstances, particularly in the second week. It took a lot out of me but at the same time it gave me wings.
‘The further the tournament goes, I feel like I am more confident on grass and I look forward to the next challenge.’
Sixth seed Federer has also looked impressed at the All England Club as he looks to wrap up his ninth Wimbledon title at the age of 39.
Speaking after his straight-sets victory over Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego, Federer said: ‘When you’re young, you don’t ask yourself the question.
‘But when you’re me, with the year I had, it’s all question marks all over the place. You have to prove it again to yourself that you can actually do it.
‘It’s very rewarding and it’s a good feeling. Now we’ll see how much more I got left in the tank.’
Federer faces Hubert Hurkacz in his quarter-final tie after the Polish star beat Daniil Medvedev in five sets.
