Lee Dixon has heaped praise on Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka’s performances last season and has tipped him to become ‘an absolute superstar’ in the future.

Following injuries to left backs Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney, Saka became somewhat of a regular at the Emirates in the 2019-20 season, before winning the club’s Player of the Year award the following term, in which boss Mikel Arteta played him in a more attacking role.

The 20-year-old’s performances for Arsenal last season earned him a call up to the England national squad for the European Championships, where he excelled in a number of matches and helped them to the final. He has since become a fans favourite for both club and country.

Dixon believes that Saka is already a top player, but could become one of the best in the world if he continues his current trajectory.

‘You forget what an age [Saka is playing like]. He was basically one of the two who carried the Arsenal team last season,’ Dixon told ITV Sport.

‘For such a young player, everybody was looking at him to change a game, to win a game. And he’s come into the England side – certainly in the Euros – he was the one that got the ball.

Dixon thinks Saka is 'going to be an absolute superstar.'

‘We saw he’s got a pass, he’s got a cross, he’s got the ability to take players on and commit players. He’s going to be an absolute superstar, I’m pretty sure of that.’

Saka celebrated his 20th birthday with a goal and a win for England against Andorra in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

‘[It was] the perfect birthday present for me. I’m really happy we got the win and that I celebrate my birthday like this. I’m really happy with the reception everyone gave me,’ Saka said after the match.

Despite excelling on the international stage, Saka will be worried about his club’s form after they started the new Premier League season off with three consecutive defeats to newly-promoted Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City without scoring a single goal.

The Gunners will be hoping to bounce back after the International break when they play host to Norwich in what many people see as a must win game if Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants to keep his job at the Emirates.
