A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after two ‘distressed’ schoolgirls were found in a park.
The girls, both 15, were taken to hospital after police were called to the park in Score Lane, Liverpool, just after 6pm on Sunday.
They were described as being in a ‘distressed state’ by officers, who arrested the boy and took him to a station for questioning.
The park remains cordoned off today as detectives continue with their investigation.
Any witnesses who saw the alleged assault have been urged to come forward.
A police spokesperson said: ‘We have arrested a male following an incident in Childwall [southeast Liverpool] yesterday.
‘At around 6.10pm, a report was received of two 15-year-old girls being found at a park on Score Lane.
‘Both girls were reportedly in a distressed state and were taken to hospital.
‘Following enquiries, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been taken for questioning.
‘An investigation is underway and anyone with information is asked to get in touch.
‘Forensic, CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and a cordon remains is in place while detectives investigate.’
