On Tuesday’s episode of the ITV2 dating show, the islanders took part in a couple’s challenge where they were tested on how well they know each other.
Chloe Burrows, who’s coupled up with Hugo, was asked to reveal her partner’s biggest turn-off, to which she answered ‘fakeness’.
‘Yeah. Personality and looks, so fakeness it is,’ Hugo added, shortly after one of the questions of the game had the boys guess what cosmetic procedures their partners have had done.
Despite Faye and Sharon appearing disgruntled by Hugo’s answer, Hugo then revealed his perfect type to be a ‘natural leggy blonde’, before adding: ‘Not fake,’ rubbing even more salt into the wound.
‘That word keeps getting thrown around, doesn’t it,’ Faye said angrily, while Sharon said: ‘It’s ignorant as f**k.’
After the game ended, the other boys explained to Hugo why he had upset some of the girls, as Faye stated that he needs to ‘get f**king educated why girls get work done’.
In the Beach Hut, Sharon added that it’s important for people to understand why others may decide to have cosmetic procedures if they have insecurities.
Hugo pulled Sharon to one side, apologising profusely for how he made her feel.
As Sharon forgave him, Hugo broke down in tears, telling her that he felt he had ‘let her down’.
Faye was still fuming over Hugo’s remarks, saying that she didn’t care if he was upset.
Nonetheless, they buried the hatchet shortly afterwards when Faye, Hugo and Sharon had another chat about what went down, with Faye opening up about why she decided to have a boob job when she was younger.
Hugo appeared to gain a greater understanding of why his remarks upset Faye and Sharon so much, saying in the Beach Hut that he’ll make sure never to make the same blunder again.
However, trouble could be on the horizon for Sharon with her partner Aaron Francis, as he didn’t seem to be on board with how Sharon dealt with the situation.
Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and is available to watch on ITV Hub.
