Natalia Bryant talks late dad Kobe and sister Gigi in Teen Vogue shoot

Natalia Bryant has revealed why talking about her late father Kobe and sister Gianna is how she tries to keep their memory alive, even if it’s hard to do at times.

The basketball legend died in a helicopter crash along with his 13-year-old daughter Gigi and seven others in January 2020, and his eldest daughter opened up to Teen Vogue about life since the loss.

The 18-year-old, who recently signed with IMG Models, got candid during her first-ever cover shot with the publication’s September Issue as she stated: ‘I love talking about my dad.

‘It’s bittersweet, but I enjoy talking about him more than it’s sad for me.’

‘You do the best that you can. [For] my little sisters [we’re] trying to keep that memory for them. And also just trying to remember to live out every day the way they would,’ Natalia added as she shared how her family moving forward after the tragedy.

Her mother Vanessa wed Kobe in April 2001 and they went on to welcome four daughters together: Natalia, Gigi, Bianka, four and two-year-old, Capri.

Natalia shared one particular memory of her dad as she recalled the moment they attended a midnight showing of 2019’s Stars Wars: Rise of Skywalker.

She stated: ‘He was just like the best girl dad ever. He was just letting me play my playlist and jam out to Taylor Swift the whole ride back, and talk about Star Wars too. It was so much fun.’

Natalia and Kobe also bonded over volleyball and she had intended on playing volleyball in college, but that changed following her father and sister’s deaths.

Though Natalia is currently studying at the university, she doesn’t plan on pursuing volleyball any further as she explained: ‘I love the sport. I quit volleyball after the accident because I was so . . . a lot was going on at that time.

‘I knew I didn’t . . . love volleyball as much as they love basketball. I’m okay with that.’

The interview comes after Natalia recently revealed her hopes to pursue a career in film.
