Haaland, the son of former City midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, has been linked with a move this summer following his astonishing goalscoring exploits with Dortmund.
Manchester United thought they were on the cusp of signing the player who was coached during the formative stage of his career by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Molde and the Red Devils’ interest remains ahead of the summer window.
Chelsea, too, believe they are in strong contention to sign the 20-year-old, while City are said to regard the player as the natural successor to Sergio Aguero who looks set to leave at the end of the current campaign.
‘The numbers speak for themselves,’ said Guardiola at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Everton. ‘
‘He is one of the best strikers in the world right now for his age. I know the quality of this player.’
On the chances of City signing Haaland this summer, Guardiola added: ‘He is a player for Borussia Dortmund. I don’t like it when people talk about our players so I cannot answer this question.’
