Peppa Pig drags Kanye West over Donda review score

We expected a Kanye West diss from Drake this week, but Peppa Pig? That, we didn’t see coming.

Time to rename ‘beef’ ‘bacon’, we reckon.

Everyone’s favourite porcine TV star has read Kanye for filth, after the rapper’s new album Donda scored less from music website Pitchfork than Peppa’s album Peppa’s Adventures.

A now-deleted tweet from the official Peppa Pig account, which has 66,000 followers, quote-tweeted a post comparing the 6.0 score given to Donda and the 6.5 score given to Peppa’s Adventures: The Album, and added: ‘Peppa didn’t need to host listening parties in Mercedes-Benz Stadium to get that .5.’

The shade of it all.

Kanye, 45, held three listening parties ahead of the release of his 10th studio album Donda – two of them at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where he set up a makeshift recording studio and a bedroom, and the third at Soldier Field in Chicago.

The post was quickly deleted, but not before screenshots went viral.

However, one shady tweet remains, with Peppa responding to a tweet relating to the Pitchfork reviews reading ‘stan the queen’ with a crown emoji.

Peyton Thomas awarded Peppa’s Adventures a score of 6.5 back in July, praising the four-year-old pig’s ‘efficient songwriting’ and saying she is ‘adept at mining the mundane stuff of suburban life for glittering moments of camaraderie’.

Meanwhile, contributing editor Dylan Green gave Donda a score of 6 last week, saying the album includes ‘euphoric highs that lack connective tissue’, and calling it  ‘a data dump of songs searching for a higher calling’.

It’s the lowest score Pitchfork has given a Kanye album; 2018’s Ye, which they called a ‘low point in his career’, was given a 7.1, in comparison to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which was handed a perfect 10.

The record features a whopping 27 songs, but has been criticised for some of its featured guests, including DaBaby, who recently made homophobic comments about gay men, and Marilyn Manson, who faces four lawsuits from women who have accused him of sexual abuse.

Despite mixed reviews and outright criticism, Donda looks set to be a smash on the charts, as projected sales figures at the start of the week predicted that Kanye will beat Olivia Rodrigo to have the biggest album of the year so far.

Well, until Peppa drops her revenge album, that is.
