The East Sussex-raised singer-songwriter, known for his baritone voice, also boasts the biggest opening week for a British act in 2021 so far, and the fastest-selling album by a solo artist this year too.
Life By Misadventure is Rag’n’Bone Man’s second number one album, following Human’s hugely successful release in 2017.
Since then, Human has gone on to achieve over 1.2million UK chart sales and was also in this week’s top 40 albums, at number 35.
Life By Misadventure explores how the artist has grown as a man since becoming a father and touches on his recent separation from his wife of 10 years.
Rag’n’Bone Man leads an all-new top five this week with Michael Ball’s new album, We Are More Than One, at number two and YouTuber Dodie at number three with her debut record, Build A Problem.
Brighton’s post-punk band Squid are at number four with their debut Bright Green Field, and Sir Van Morrison rounds out the top five with Latest Record Project – Volume One.
The singer was – but within government guidelines, so it was just him and his housemate hammering the karaoke machine.
The song they were tackling as police arrived? Boy Meets Girl’s Waiting for a Star to Fall, because as the singer pointed out himself, ‘who doesn’t like that song?’.
