The Bravo star insisted the split was not a ‘sham’ to hide assets after her lawyer ex found himself the center of a high-profile investigation into fraud and embezzlement related to his legal work.
The 50-year-old reality star burst into tears on the season 11 episode titled A Pretty Meltdown as she opened up to co-star Kyle Richards, 52, about her marital woes.
The singer and actress wept: ‘I’m just overwhelmed… Kyle, this is so hard to do. This is so hard. What’s happening is so hard. It’s just …I have such a story to tell. I can’t tell it, ’cause it’s not the right time.’
She continued: ‘I’ve never been this overwhelmed, and in a place where my hands are literally tied…I could have never predicted this f***ing s***.’
The star was seen visibly reeling throughout the episode at a time when reports had begun to surface with claims that her decision to file for divorce from Tom, 82, was a sham to hide assets amid mounting lawsuits against the famous lawyer.
Erika continued through the tears: ‘There’s nothing I can do except wait to tell my side of the story. And, you know, the feeling of just not knowing, and then these huge things being alleged, and just having to defend yourself.
‘It’s just a lonely, lonely place to be, because… God, Kyle, my divorce is not a sham.’
The TV personality claimed her decision to file for divorce was due to relationship issues she was having with her estranged husband, as she detailed claims about his lack of affection and seemingly controlling antics.
‘Divorce is very painful and then having it called a sham is even more painful,’ Erika explained in a confessional. ‘It took a lot of courage to leave and it took two seconds for some ass—- to say it was a sham and [for] everybody to believe it.’
When Kyle asked Erika whether she was ‘totally in the dark’ about what was going on, Erika replied: ‘You have to remember: it is the firm that they’re dragging in. So they’re suing the firm, and I’m being attached to it.’
The reality star split from lawyer Tom in November 2020 and later exposed his alleged mistress – Justice Tricia A. Bigelow – to millions of her social media followers.
Shortly after she filed for divorce, the former couple were accused of embezzling money ‘to fund their lavish lifestyle.’
Erika has denied the claims she ’embezzled millions’ of dollars, some of which was meant to go to ‘widows and orphans who lost loved ones in the tragic crash of Lion Air Flight 610.’
Meanwhile, Tom was later diagnosed with ‘dementia and late-onset Alzheimer’s’ amid the pair’s legal woes and has been put under a conservatorship.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 11 airs on Bravo in the US, with episodes airing in the UK on hayu.
