The Loose Women star introduced the nameless black cat to her Instagram followers on Sunday alongside a cute video of her son Rex having fun playing with the feline.
In the Instagram post, Stacey explained how they had to pass on their previous family cat, Mitzy, to a new home, saying: ‘We wish we could have brought Mitzy here but he became too settled with his new family down the road who also love him and wanted to take him on so we thought it would have been cruel to bring him out to the middle of nowhere.
‘But things happen in mysterious ways because the lady who lived here before said she took in a wild cat and couldn’t catch him [to] bring him with her. So she left some food and asked if we would take care of him if he ever came back… and here he is.’
She joked in another clip: ‘Welcome to the mad house.’
Stacey, 31, later returned to her Instagram stories to explain the situation further after being bombarded with messages about her new family pet.
The TV presenter clarified: ‘Lots of you are like Stace that cat doesn’t look very wild. He’s not wild now the lady had been feeding him and cuddling him for years… But when she tried to catch him he got scared and ran away.
‘So it was nice to see him this morning… Hopefully he likes us and doesn’t mind the dogs too much and comes back again and again.’
She wrote in an Instagram post: ‘Home Sweet Home 🏡 And so a new chapter begins 🥺 We can not even describe how strange it feels that this is home. 😭 Never in a million years did we ever think this would be.
‘We feel so lucky and are so grateful to have found this hidden treasure closer to our family and further out. We can’t wait to fill it with love and give it our everything. To raise our family here. And to just start a fresh.
‘I’m very emotional for some reason. It still hasn’t sunk in and doesn’t quite feel real.
‘‘Thank you for all of your supportive, kind, loving messages. We love you to the moon and back and I can’t wait to show you around… 🖤 Here’s to the next chapter in pickle cottage.’
Once the couple are settled in, they’ve still got a wedding to plan with their nuptials set to take place this summer.
