Susanna Reid had to explain her croaky voice on Good Morning Britain, as she had a late night cheering on the England football team at Wembley.

After a tense match, England secured the win against Denmark in extra time with many stars, including Susanna, cheering them on from the stands.

Chatting to Alastair Campbell on GMB, the presenter said: ‘I would like to apologise this morning for the fact that my voice seems to have descended an octave and that is because yes, I was there, screaming at the top of my lungs.’

Sharing a selfie at the game, Susanna pointed out: ‘That was before the mayhem.

‘That was when the sun was shining on our fortunes before the action actually started. But what an atmosphere!’

Later on in the show, Kate Garraway didn’t hold back as she informed Susanna that she sounded ‘like Barry White’.

Susanna’s former co-star Piers Morgan was among those kicking off the celebrations as he enjoyed the game from Wembley with his sons.

Beside his Instagram upload, which saw the trio showing their support for the team, the former Good Morning Britain host wrote: ‘Wembley! Come on England.’

Alex Scott and David Beckham were pictured in the stands in north west London, with Prince William and Boris Johnson also among the fans.

Ross Kemp was watching on from home, and celebrated England’s goal in typical understated form – screaming through a video on Twitter.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
