For some contestants on The Chase, their appearance on the show can see them heading home with a life-changing sum of money.
One recent contestant, 20-year-old Eden, took home £75,000 after beating The Menace – aka Chaser Darragh Ennis – with an incredible solo run, smashing the previous solo record of £70,000.
But for others, they may not be so lucky in their time on the show, and struggle to get even a single question right.
So, has anybody ever scored a big fat zero on The Chase…?
Has anybody scored zero on The Chase?
While it doesn’t happen very often on the show, there have been some occasions when a contestant has scored zero on The Chase’s Cash Builder.
The round sees contestants having to answer quickfire general knowledge questions in order to accumulate money for their team’s prize fund.
Each correct answer adds £1,000 to the prize pot, with no penalties for wrong answers or passes.
While scoring zero on the round isn’t ideal, it doesn’t necessarily mean that either you or your team will go home with nothing.
One contestant, beautician Janty, experienced a remarkable turn around in fortunes when she appeared on the show in early 2021 – going from no correct answers in the Cash Builder to bagging £40,000 in her Head to Head round against The Vixen.
‘That for me, will go down in Chase history,’ Bradley Walsh said afterwards.
Has a team ever scored zero on The Chase?
While no team has ever scored zero on The Chase, there have been some collectively low scores over the years.
One episode which aired in early 2021 saw a team of three players score just seven points between them in the final chase – giving their Chaser , The Governess, aka Anne Hegarty, little to worry about after she managed to beat them with one minute and 24 seconds of time remaining.
