The effort is to promote the taking up of the vaccine and to provide access to educational resources while in-app.
On Tinder, stickers include ‘vaccined’ and ‘vaxxing soon’, while similar stickers are available on Match, OkCupid, Hinge, Bumble, Badoo, Plenty of Fish, OurTime and Muzmatch.
The stickers were made in partnership with the UK government.
Those who use the pro-vaccine stickers on their profile will be rewarded with features usually only available to paid users.
OkCupid is offering a free ‘boost’ (enabling more users to see your profile) and have created a new ‘vaccination stack’ (only accessible to users taking up the initiative), while Tinder offers a free ‘super like’ (ensuring you’re at the top of someone’s like list).
A similar scheme launched in the US last month.
Some apps are going a step further, with Bumble allowing users to list on their profile how they feel about social distancing, mask-wearing and other covid related concerns.
Immediately, people will be able to see if their views are compatible with others on the app.
It comes after a YouGov poll found that 28% of adults surveyed wouldn’t date someone unvaccinated.
The dating apps have conducted their own surveys and found similar attitudes among users.
Tinder said mentions of ‘vaccine’ in bios have increased by 750% and more than half of gen z are only interested in people who’ve had the jab.
OkCupid discovered four in 10 Brits would cancel a date if someone wasn’t getting their vaccine.
Alongside the stickers, the dating platforms will be linking to campaigns from the NHS, educational resources, and information on how to get the vaccine when it’s available to the individual.
