In today’s ‘you couldn’t make it up’ news, production on the new game show Ultimate Slip ’N Slide has been halted after an outbreak of explosive diarrhoea on set.
The literal definition of a s*** show.
NBC’s upcoming game show is currently filming in Simi, California, but production has now been shut down indefinitely after at least one crew member tested positive for giardia, a microscopic parasite that, when swallowed, causes diarrhoea.
Giardia is found on surfaces or in soil, food, or water that has been contaminated with feces from infected people or animals.
According to The Wrap, up to 40 crew members were hit by ‘awful explosive diarrhoea’ which left people ‘collapsing’ on set and “being forced to run into port-o-potties’.
The outbreak, which began on June 2, led to samples of water from a well, pond, slide pool, water truck and restroom sinks being tested for giardia, which all came back negative.
However, results of additional testing came back on June 10 showing giardia in the set’s surrounding area.
A statement from Universal Television Alternative Studios read: ‘The health and safety of everyone on our set is our number one priority, so out of an abundance of caution we have made the decision to stop production of Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide at the current location.
‘We are in the process of determining next steps in order to complete production.’
It was also confirmed that hosts Bobby Moynihan and Ron Funches have not been affected by the outbreak.
According to NBC, Ultimate Slip ’N Slide ‘takes Wham-O’s classic 1960s outdoor game into a wet-and-wild water park filled with slippery slides that will give competitors a chance to win a big cash prize’.
Teams of friends, siblings, couples and colleagues will face off in tasks like Human Pong, Body Bowling, Cornhole and Bocce Fall to win.
The show is set to premiere on August 8 after the Olympic Summer Games’ closing ceremony, before moving to Mondays.
According to People, Ultimate Slip ’N Slide only had a week left of scheduled production to complete when the s*** hit the fan.
