Travellers from the UK will finally be able to enter the United States, it has been reported.

The rule change, coming into force from November, will apply to those who are vaccinated, and will also cover people from the EU, sources told Reuters.

Strict restrictions have been in place since March 2020, when they were imposed by Donald Trump. His successor Joe Biden decided to keep them after reviewing them.

It has amounted to a ban effectively, with people only allowed to enter if they had an exceptional reason.

A press conference is expected today with an announcement that there will be wide-ranging changes to international travel.

A UK Government source said that they were still awaiting final details from Washington but ‘it looks like good news’.

UK aviation sources were also anticipating a positive announcement.
