Earlier this year, Loki became the third MCU show to be released on Disney Plus, following the adventures of the God of Mischief (Tom Hiddleston) as he became captured by the Time Variance Authority after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
In the post-credits scene for the season one finale, it was officially confirmed that Loki will be back for a second season, with fans hoping that will also mean the return of fan-favourite characters including Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) and Mobius M Mobius (Owen Wilson).
Considering the confirmation of the show’s renewal came earlier than expected, viewers might have thought new episodes would be on the way in at least a year’s time.
However, during a recent interview, Kevin implied that filming might not begin until 2023.
When asked by Collider if he imagines filming may commence next year, he replied: ‘It is underway. We’re developing it as we speak. The hope is that much of the same team will return.
Kevin explained that they’re going to be in search of a new director, after season one director Kate Herron finished working on the show.
‘Kate is going on to bigger and better things, so the director search will begin shortly, and I’m not being evasive. We have a start date. I’m not sure exactly where it falls between next year or the year after,’ he stated.
While Loki was an exciting watch, it also packed an emotional punch as the MCU’s resident trickster transformed from being an antagonist and an enemy of the Avengers to a hero in search of redemption.
During an interview with Metro.co.uk, director Kate outlined how that particular line was workshopped right up until the last minute.
‘Even when we were filming, we were talking about dialogue, so for example that speech he gives Sylvie at the very end, you know, where he says I just want you to be ok, we were rehearsing and workshopping that right up to when we filmed it,’ Kate recollected.
‘That was with Eric Martin who was our writer. I think all of us just wanted to get that moment right and that speech right. Tom, he fed in across lots of stuff.’
Loki is available to watch on Disney Plus.
