It seems like only yesterday we were welcoming Bake Off 2020 into our lives – but the series has fair flown by, so much so that we’re already at the quarter-final stage.
Yup, just five of the original 12 bakers remain in the tent to take on Tuesday night’s Dessert Week and try and keep their place in the competition, with the final just a fortnight away.
And it’s a pretty closely fought race between the five – Hermine, Dave, Marc, Laura and Peter – they’ve all got a Star Baker title under their belt for one thing – meaning we genuinely cannot predict which of them will emerge as champion.
Just what do the bookies think? Here’s how the betting is currently looking…
Who will win Bake Off 2020?
Here’s what bookies Ladbrokes are saying as we head into the quarter-final:
A Ladbrokes spokesperson told metro.co.uk: ‘With a different Star Baker every week this is the most wide open series we’ve ever seen. Peter has been most consistent, however, and it looks like he could emerge as this year’s winner.’
Elsewhere however, it’s not looking good for Laura, who narrowly missed out on the chop last week – and who is favourite to go this week, according to Betway, who are offering odds of 10/3 on her missing out on a semi-final place.
“Following a wobbly start to the season, Laura continues to lead the Next Contestant To Be Eliminated market, priced at 10/3,’ said Betway’s Chad Yeomans.
‘Can this week’s cheesecake challenge cause her baking dreams to crumble?’
What is the theme of this week’s Bake Off?
Following last Tuesday’s 80s week – which ended in Lottie bidding farewell to the tent – this week the remaining bakers will take on the ever-popular Dessert Week.
The show will see them tackling miniature cheesecake in the Signature, and a 17th Century dish in the technical, while the Showstopper centres around jelly art dessert cakes.
The Great British Bake Off continues on Channel 4 tonight at 8pm.
