The woman who the Queen’s grandson went to visit while accused of breaking lockdown rules has been named.
Peter Phillips, 43, is Princess Anne’s eldest child. He travelled more than 460 miles from his home in Gloucestershire to Scotland’s east coast where he saw the daughter of a wealthy oil tycoon Lindsay Wallace, The Sun reported.
Mr Phillips knows Ms Wallace, 40, through his sister Zara, 39, who made friends with her at their £40,000-a-year school in Aberdeenshire.
Police questioned the pair on Friday and decided they had not breached coronavirus legislation.
Mr Phillips said he was in Scotland for work with his XF Medical company, which produces rapid coronavirus tests.
Sources quoted by The Sun said Mr Phillips is ‘besotted’ with the mum-of-two, who he reconnected with at a school reunion.
He visited her in August but that would not have been illegal because there were no bans on travel then – although both governments had encouraged people to cancel travel plans over huge distances.
Both Mr Phillips and Ms Wallace are separated from their partners.
Ms Wallace has been a stay-at-home mum for the last few years and comes from a wealthy background, enjoying her £475,000 home in St Cyrus, Montrose.
The Sun’s source said: ‘Her father worked in the oil industry and the family pride themselves on being a Christian family who are pillars of their local community.’
A spokesperson for Mr Phillips said he was in Scotland for business and added: ‘We do not comment on details or circumstances of Mr Phillips’ accommodation when travelling on business.’
Police Scotland said: ‘Officers attended, spoke to the occupants and found no breaches of legislation.’
