Zlatan Ibrahimovic is close to agreeing a new one-year deal with AC Milan that will see the Swede take his career into its 25th season.

The 39-year-old defied his critics by returning to Europe with former club Milan in 2019 after a two-year stint with LA Galaxy.

The Swede has scored 28 goals in 44 appearances for the Serie A giants, including 17 in 24 games this term.

Ibrahimovic’s form has been so impressive that the striker has come out of international retirement ahead of the European Championships.

Ibrahimovic spent two years at the San Siro 11 years ago, helping the club to win their last Scudetto.

The forward’s move to Los Angeles in 2018 was seen as the Swede’s last hurrah before retirement, particularly as Ibrahimovic tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament the year before.

But Ibrahimovic has silenced his doubters with a quite incredible return to European football and Milan are keen to keep hold of the veteran by offering him a new one-year deal.

The Guardian even suggest there could be an option for a further 12 months on top of that, which would mean Ibrahimovic would be 41 by the end of his new deal.
