An eight-year-old boy saved his 20-month-old sister’s life by using a technique he’d seen John Cena use on television.

The youngster from Pennsylvania learned from the WWE wrestler turned Hollywood actor after his appearance on a Nickelodeon show.

As quoted by WNEP, he said: ‘We were driving to my haircut, and I noticed she was starting to choke from a chicken nugget from McDonald’s. I told my dad to pull over. Then I was starting to pat on her back, and it got out.

‘It’s called The Substitute on Nickelodeon, and in the very first episode, John Cena was on it, and in the last part, he showed how to save someone when they’re choking.’

Jaxson’s dad Matt was proud of his son and admitted he saved baby Lelia’s life.
He added: ‘He amazes us every day, you know—some of the things he says and does, and his actions.

‘We’re simply blessed to have the child that he is, the things that he does for his family, his friends, for his little sister. He’s a good big brother.

‘If I was by myself and Jaxson wasn’t with me, and I stopped and gave her a chicken nugget, I couldn’t hear her because she was choking.

‘She wasn’t coughing; she wasn’t panicking. She just had no air going through; she wasn’t breathing. Thank God Jaxson was there because, without him, I don’t know if Lelia would be here.’

Nickelodeon has heard about Jaxson’s ‘heroic actions’ and congratulated him for his quick thinking.

Spokesman David Bittler told PEOPLE: ‘Everyone at Nickelodeon is so proud of Jaxson and his heroic actions, and we are honoured to be a part of such a remarkable story of good news and courage! Yay for Jaxson and Leila!’

The actor is yet to comment on the heart-warming story.

In other Cena news, fans will have to get used to the idea of WrestleMania without the 16-time world champ after he ruled himself out of the huge event on April 10 and 11.

He recently told Sports Illustrated: ‘Currently, I’m in Vancouver shooting Peacemaker, the series for HBO Max. Given the quarantine regulations, if I were to leave Canada, upon return I would have to quarantine for another two weeks.

‘Essentially, that would shut production down. Strictly based on the letter of the law right now, there is no logistical way I can be there. We film now until July.’
