RUMOR: James Wiseman has zero interest in going to Timberwolves, per Brian Windhorst

Timberwolves, James Wiseman

With the NBA Draft just a few weeks away, the rumors surrounding the top picks are beginning to swirl. In the latest news, James Wiseman has reportedly “zero interest” in playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

In an appearance on “The Scoop W/ Doggie” (via Larry Brown Sports), Windhorst detailed why Wiseman doesn’t want to come to Minnesota and join the Timberwolves.

‘“Wiseman does not want to come to Minnesota because Karl Towns is there,” said Windhorst. “From what I understand, Wiseman doesn’t even want to do anything with the Wolves.”

What Windhorst said makes complete sense. Karl-Anthony Towns is a 24-year-old big man with two all star appearances and an All-NBA title under his belt already. Minnesota definitely does not need another big.

If the Timberwolves do draft Wiseman for some odd reason, it would force Wiseman or Towns to play the power forward, which isn’t either of their natural position. A move like that could potentially stunt the growth of the highly touted big man.

The Timberwolves are much better suited to take point guard Lamelo Ball or trading down to draft a wing player that fits better.

Wiseman, on the other hand, is still likely to be a Top 5 pick in the 2020 draft.

If Golden State keeps their number two selection, Wiseman has to be the obvious choice. They have every other position in their starting lineup solidified going into next year, so picking the draft’s best center makes sense.

Regardless of where he ends up being drafted, James Wiseman has the potential to be an excellent player in the NBA. Let’s hope that he does stay out of Minnesota, so we can see him reach his full potential.
